Eclipse v11 - Part 1

One of the seldom-acknowledged benefits of using Eclipse is its seamless evolution. Updates occur and new versions are released, yet the user interface is rarely altered. When you open up a job in a new update or version, the screen looks the same, and the commands you’re used to using are all still in place. This allows users to move forward and try new features and enhancements without being slowed down by having to figure out new commands and features.

Eclipse v11 will be no exception. It should be released soon and will feature a slew of new features. Here are some to focus on:

  • An updated user interface (UI), including the latest Windows, look and feel, with new command icons, user tree organization, and high-res screen scalability adjustments.
  • The new plugin system for continuous feature development and delivery. Instead of having to wait for an update or a new version for a revision or a new feature, Jeremy, one of the techs, or even a user, can create a plugin that can be written. Very cool!
  • A new Edit Mode to streamline editing documents from the writer's keyboard. Editing from the writer will be better than ever.
  • Refined auto-brief expert help will make this feature even easier to use.
  • Boost enhancements, including Boost Flow realtime speech/steno hybridization with speech improvements including Zoom conference speaker diarization. That’s quite a lot to wrap your head around, isn’t it. Bottom line: You’ve just got to see this in action!
  • Some big-time audio improvements, including loopback for remote reporting and streamlined operation for importing audio and multi-channel recording.
  • Editing enhancements, including editing speed indicator and persistent form field variables across files.
